Dehumidifiers

Crawlspace-rated units, sized from measurements taken at the evaluation. Each one plugs into an existing GFCI outlet. We do not add circuits; that is an electrician’s job.

Insulation

Foam board on walls, closed-cell foam at the rim joist, batts in the floor. Which one depends on whether the space is being sealed or left vented.

Doors and vents

A sealed crawlspace needs a door that closes and vents that stay shut. One exception matters in Pinellas: if the house is in a FEMA flood zone, its foundation vents may be required flood openings. Covering those can put the house out of compliance and raise the flood insurance premium. We check the flood zone before we touch a vent, and where openings are required we fit flood vents instead of covers.
